New Name, New Look!

***Trying out new names and a new blog look. Please ignore the mess!***

I have debated so much whether to post this or not. On one hand it's embarrassing that I let my body get to the point it was. Before I had my son, I was very fit. And after his birth I pretty much just got lazy about my needs and what's good for me and my body. I let myself go.

Now on the other hand, I'm proud of how hard I have worked to get my body somewhat back to where it was. I know I am not done working on my body yet and I do not know if it will ever be what it was before pregnancy. But here it goes...

This was me, the summer of 2010. Just a few months before I got pregnant with Zane.

And here is where I let myself get to (I'm cringing). Me in January 2014.

And my progress so far, me May 2014

Before and Lately (I won't say "after" because I'm not done)

I'm not done yet, I still plan on leaning up and continuing to do everything I have been doing. Hopefully I'll be able to inspire and motivate other Mommies out there to get fit and healthy!

Pedestrians Look Out!!

I learned a few things today when I chose to ride a bicycle for my workout today! May you learn a few things too!

1) It was MUCH easier when I was a child!!

2) Whoever said "It's like riding a bike" is seriously mistaken! For a couple reasons--it's not easy! And also, it's highly possible to forget how to ride one, I looked like a moron.

3) Beware when you're dismounting your bike, some important parts can get damaged or seriously bruised!!

4) Goggles are probably a good idea! See I'm not the pro biker I was a child, it's vital for my life to keep both hands on the handle bar. When I have sweat pouring in my eyeballs I can't wipe. So I need goggles for the sake of my corneas!

5) No matter how much padding you think you have on your rear end, it's not enough!

6) I should probably of done a little research on my hand-me-down bike before I decided to hop right on after not being on a bike in over 15+ years!

 7) Next time I will be prepared with a water belt, or get one of those things that hold your water bottle. I was tempted to knock on a strangers door for some water!

8) Since I'm accident prone... (a couple broken noses, bruised tail bone, the regular sprained ankle, kicked in the jaw and couldn't eat for days, etc.) You'd think I've learned to have the necessary equipment...helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, chin pad, shin guards, chest guard...am I missing anything? But no, I rode like the risk taker I am! It's good for the soul!

9) This is not your grandma's stationery bike!! You peddled 2 1/2 miles away from home, you can't just get off when you get tired. Well, you can, but just be prepared to trek that bike all the way back home (which is a workout in itself!)

10) Do the your best not to run into any poles, parked cars, or children at play. None of this can end well!

Although, it was kinda fun and a new experience for a workout. I actually did enjoy it! I was pretty surprised at how much harder it was than I thought!! I like to mix it up, stay on my toes with my workouts so I don't get bored. I had good music in my ears, a nice little breeze goin' and some nice scenery to look at. But after today I also learned some DO's and DON'Ts of riding a bike...

DO embrace the climbs!

DON'T look down! Maybe I'm a super klutz, but I lose my balance when I do. Keep your eyes on the horizon!

DO wave back at random ladies who wave at you thinking they know you! It's just polite! (If you're reading this and I do actually know you and didn't recognize you...my apologies!)

DON'T mouth breathe!! Just don't! Unless you're looking to add more protein to your diet, otherwise, breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth, k?

DO take a break if you need one to push through those upcoming climbs.

DO enjoy the scenery. I saw a bunny.

DO ride those coasting downhills. It's fun! And gives your legs a nice little break!

Annnnddddd.....

DO sing out loud to your music, even if you get funny looks!!

It was a nice workout! Hard? Yeah!! I'm not gonna kid you! My legs are worm plum out! But now I know why I had such great stems and buns when I was younger! Maybe I'll do what I did back then and pretend I'm cruising in the latest greatest car! It brought out the kid in me, what can I say!

You're REALLY gonna think we are crazy...

After being sick since Thursday, I haven't hit the gym, nor have I eaten exceptionally well. However, today, I dropped Zane off at my parents and decided I'd go get my run in, we have plans tonight, I thought ahead. I still have a hint of a cough but I didn't care, you want to know why?? The other night I was babbling on to The Hubs and somewhere along the way I began talking about my weight. And I asked him something like "do you think I'm fat?" Yes, he knew this was a trap and that there was no way out of it. He says something like, "I love you the way you are." Being a woman I said "Ooook, that's not a NO, so why don't you just say it?" He knew this wasn't leading anywhere good and that I had a point. I told him I wanted the truth and that I'm not blind and if he loves me he would tell me. So, hesitantly he says "you've put on a little weight." OUCH!!!! "But I'm very much attracted to you," He says. Good save!  It was the truth, I asked for it, can't get mad! I thought about his honesty for a couple seconds, and I thought to myself, "I used to look so good, and he loved that I had a great body, I can do it again!" And I'm sure to his surprise I said "thank you!" I am actually the type of person that would rather be hurt with the truth rather than comforted with a lie! That statement was the push I needed to get back in the game! I know you are probably thinking what a jerk he is, that he never should have said that to me! But my friend, you are wrong. If my husband can't be honest with me then we got problems! I know this man loves me for so many reasons!! He is such a loving husband and tells me constantly he didn't marry me for look, but always because he is in love with me. People, he did me a favor! I don't want to get my weight so out of control I think getting in shape is out of reach! He gave me that wake-up call I needed. Sometimes it's easy to have the wrong perception of how you look, then you see a photo and you are shocked that you must really look a little overweight. You can think I'm a vain idiot (which sometimes I am) or that he's a huge jerk (and sometimes he can be) but we are best friends and love each other, we are honest with each other. He took a real risk in telling me the truth, and I thank him!
See, I told ya you'd think we are crazy! :)

Rambles of the Stay at Home Mom

I think I should change my Blog name to that title, what do you think??

Well it's Monday, again, and I have begun to REALLY get the hot momma body back! I ran for the first time in a long time tonight! I made no excuses, when The Hubs got home, I got goin'! If you haven't been following along, I am now at THE HEAVIEST I've ever been! I do not admit that proudly. I used to be so fit and skinny, I'm talkin' a totally rockin' bod!
Daytona, FL  Summer of 2010
Then later that year I got pregnant.  Bad habits started and never ended, until now!!! Before hand I was just so dedicated! I ran alot and ate so well! But I still have all that in me and I'm digging back into my "fitness knowledge" part of my brain that hasn't been used properly in a good year and a half! I know what to do, I just need to do it and become that "fitness buff" I used to be!

With all that said, I started Couch to 5K, today, again...and geez running used to be so much easier!!! I discovered that I hate sweating now, it makes me feel fatter! However, when I was skinny I loved being drenched in sweat after a good run! Something about it made me feel so accomplished. Not today, it just made me feel yuck! My ankles and knees hurt now since I am heavier, and I literally feel my butt bouncing behind me as I run! To make it worse, my buns are sore the next couple days, probably from just the bouncing alone! I got some junk in this trunk people! It's usually the first thing to get big, then my boobs. Some people would see this as a good thing, not me! The ladies have gotten out of control! Most people know, I had a breast reduction when I was 16. Insurance covered my procedure and everything, it was a medical thing as well for me, cosmetic and self-consciously necessary. I was so insecure! I couldn't shop in Victoria's Secret like everyone else. I was a 32-E! I'm being 100% honest with you! I had to pick out bras at a specialty shop and then have them altered. At one point, the back strap had 5 brackets!!! This is torture for a 15, going on 16 year old! They were ugly too! And I felt like I was wearing a straight-jacket! You can bet your booty, I saved those suckers! And recently, I tried one on again, it came about an inch, maybe inch and a half from fitting!! You could not see ME passed my boobs! I went back to school after my surgery and people said to me "Oh you're skinny" I thought, well yeah! My boobs just took over my whole body!  So, you see how ginormo boobs again isn't a good thing for me. Losing weight means losing boobs! HA!

To fully understand my poundage I packed on, you'd need to see me in a bikini now. That just ain't gonna happen! I was able to wear one this past summer. I think I packed on the pounds since. Having a baby didn't make me fat, it's been poor food choices and not exercising! I love food!! Really love it! I'm not a whale, by any means, but I am not fit and have weight I really need to lose! I am only 5'1" just 5 pounds makes a difference. It doesn't help having a toddler in the house and a hubby that can eat whatever! One time I tried this diet where I could have no sugar and carbs, Zane was eating Fruit Loops and he kept trying to force them in my mouth! See what I mean?  The good thing is, my son really loves healthy food too. And once upon a time I had will power made of steel! I still have it, I just need to use it. So, here I go...I am determined that by this Summer I will have my body back! Then I'll be one hot momma and be proud of it! No worries, I won't be a mid-riff wearing inappropriate woman. I am a mom, after all! I can say though, that my legs feel good, they are tired, but a good tired! And I bet I will sleep good!!

Let me know...new blog name or no?

Gettin' my sexy back!

Well, in all my blogging days I have purposely avoided this...the "get fit" topic. No more, my friends!! I guess since giving birth recently 18 months ago, I am finally at a point that I'm completely sick of how I look and feel in clothes! I miss my old body and the joy of running, really! My biggest problem is food, and portion control. Well actually, unhealthy food as well. When you have a husband who doesn't have to really watch what he eats, it makes it hard and also easy to say "ok yeah get me some Whataburger too!" I am tired of unhealthy food, I guess I finally got my fill!!!

Before I was pregnant I was fit people! And I ate very well!! I kept candy and junk food in the house (for the hubs) and I wouldn't touch it. Will power like crazy! I had this routine, I'd get to work, drink my coffee and maybe have some oatmeal. At lunch, I'd eat my sandwich with a side of fruit and on my way home eat a snack. I'd come home, change into my workout gear and hit the gym. When I got home I'd cook dinner. Same thing everyday! Monotonous, perhaps but it worked for me! I rarely ever ate fast food or sweets, I was not a fan of sweets, truly. That changed! I rarely had soft drinks and was obsessed with calorie counting and burning! I was 115, and my belly was flat as a board!

Really skinny me @ Warrior Dash 2010
There was a time before I got into fitness that I had gained some, not fat just not happy with my body. It happened after marriage of course, and I was about 125. Then I got the fitness bug and got so addicted to running I'd run on my lunch breaks if I knew I couldn't make the gym after work. My family still gives me a hard time that I used to literally run to the gym to run and then I'd run home! I'm not even kidding!

Daytona, 2010 Washboard, I tell ya!
Out of the blue, going about my usually routine, I found out I was pregnant! I was happy, elated and felt incredibly blessed! But you have days when you don't feel great and cravings and you want to eat whatever you darn well please!! I did!!! This is when I got hooked on sweets!!! I'd eat what I wanted when I wanted and didn't feel bad about it. Of course, there were days I ate healthy too! But this started a terrible habit for me that, just now I am starting to break. My husband loved it though, donuts on Sundays, pizza, frozen yogurt...all this I craved! Then after the baby came, I'd eat what was convenient and hunger would just suddenly hit me where I had to eat now and didn't care what! AND let me say, I DID NOT BREAST FEED!! Big one that could have helped me but, oh well I was tired, it was a pain and I didn't produce well! But now, I still haven't been able to get into the running habit again. My routine these days are anything but a normal, same thing everyday! My gym doesn't offer daycare, so this poses a problem. I wait for the hubs to get home and by then, often I'm tired and it feels nicer just sitting on the couch and relaxing. Or other things would come up that I couldn't fit a workout in, yeah I know it's called life!

9 mos preg, May 2011
So, here I am nearly 28, and need to lose 15lbs! I miss running, it makes you feel great and accomplished! I sweat like a pig and I feel great after, well after a shower! The best part, I sleep great!! Which now, I could really use! Becoming a parent, there is so much going on and so many things to worry about that I just can't shut my mind off at night! One other thing, I actually enjoy healthy food! It's crazy how crappy, crappy food makes you feel, really!! I have tried the workout DVD Insanity, took before pics, pulled my groin and never finished. I've had a personal trainer, and have tried Advocare! All these I just did, but didn't take seriously. I truly believe you have to whole-heartedly be ready in mind and body! I hope I am now and I hope that since I broke my "blogging rule" this will keep me (and all you readers) motivated and hold me accountable for sticking to it! I know I can do it, I've done it before. It's time to quit being lazy and get going!! Do I have your support??
Me now!

While I get my butt in gear, I'm going to link up to some of my inspirers, go check them out too:
